Our company, Black Knight Instrument Company LLC is a company dedicated to the selling and servicing of Measuring Instruments for the Industrial Sector. Our roots go back to the Pre-internet Dark Ages, back in 1990 when most communication was done by telephone and of course that (at the time) wonderful device the facsimile machine with which you could send (more often times than not) , very blurry information to your customer. Nowadays with the wonderment of technology we are dedicated to give you send you clear, precise communications with the information you need in order to make a great purchase for yourself or for your company. Black Knight's "No Pushy Sales" Policy

At Black Knight we take sales very seriously. Of course we should! It is the heart and nature of our business. Sales people have a bad rep, and deservedly so. After 17 years in the Instrumentation Business working in Sales and also in Purchasing I believe I have seen it all. A salesman will give you a friendly pat on the back ,tell you he’s your “friend” and in the same breath will push you to buy thousands of dollars of useless services such as undercoating, rustproofing, Teflon coating and to top it all of… an extended warranty.

These are not the actions of a friend. No thank you sir, I think I will look for real friends someplace else. In the selling of “Pet rocks” I imagine it is probably not that important to establish a long term relationship with your customers. One sale, and that’s it.   In our company a long term relationship with our customers is essential; so it is vital for us to gain our customers trust and never to take advantage of that trust lest we wish to lose the customer.

Therefore Our “No Pushy Sales Policy”, Mantra or Code of Sales Honor if you will is this:

  1. We shall not make “Pushy Sales” Follow up calls to our customers If you call us, visit us, or email us we will strive to give you the information you need. We will most likely send you a quote and maybe make one single follow-up up call, just to make sure you actually received the quote by email. However, nobody will call you one week later to ask “When are you going to buy this?” Not two weeks later, not never! We will never push you to buy something.
  2. We shall not sell a Luxury Item if the customer only needs a Basic Floor Model Salespeople who work on commission will often try to sell the customer the most expensive item regardless if the customer needs it or not.   We will sell you what works for your application, and if money is a concern to you, please ask us “What is the least expensive instrument you have that works for what I am trying to do?”, and we WILL tell you.
  3. We shall never sell services that are of no value to the customer Rustproofing, Undercoating, Teflon Coating and Extended Warranties for all intents and purposes are basically scams. They are of no value to the customer and serve only to fatten the wallet of the salesman and company who are selling the item to you. We shall NEVER offer such type of services to our customers.

It is my belief that by applying these principles far from lowering our sales, in the long run we will actually increase sales by forging solid long term relationships with our customers.

One more thing…. I cannot stand the term “Make money”. Ughh!! We do not “Make Money”. We EARN money!!  Make Money is putting out an infomercial on TV selling diet pills that do not work. Make Money reminds me of those “Snake Oil” salesmen you see in Old Western Movies.  Yes... these people do indeed Make Money. They sell you nothing and for giving you nothing they receive money in return. We do not wish to be part of this crowd.

An honest Doctor who cures people of their illnesses and charges them appropriately EARNS money, a Carpenter who slaves away in his shop in order to make you a nice piece of furniture EARNS money. A Fireman and a Policeman who risk their lives for other people – buy god – they EARN their money (and probably don’t get paid enough for what they do)

 In our company we sell Industrial Measuring Instruments and while that may not be such a noble a task as what these people are doing it is our intention to also EARN our money... EARN your business and EARN your trust.
